  • I thought we were talking about recent history, not ancient.  Care to wonder how many people fell to Muslim swords over the centuries?

My point, despite the obfuscation, was that within the last 20 years,  not one Muslim has gone on record saying that the many cowardly terrorist attacks done in the name of Allah was wrong.  Not for the 93 World Trade Center bombing, not the USS Cole, not 9/11.  But hey- Lizz- educate my ignorant self.  Show me the documentation of Kabul's outrage for the cowardice of any of those attacks.  I'd love to read about them.

  • Well the 70's werent that long ago you know and I just told you bout a muslim man who HAS gone on record, via his own written work trying to tell the story of his people, and that story in NO way promotes the Taliban.  But I just started reading another this one from an American from Montana who is on a mission to promote peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan..how you may ask...well he is building schools for girls.
Anyway this is from the book: The governments уf these countries are both failing their students on a massive scale, and the work Mortenson is doing, providing the poorest students with a balanced education is making them much more difficult for the extremist madrassas to recruit".  He is educating the women again, after years of them being denied an education, risking his own life
Anyway i have only just started it but this guy is amazing, he failed an attempt at climbing K2 and was moved by the kindness of  the (muslim) villagers there and promised to return and build a school.  Over the next decade he built 55 all for girls, in the land that gave birth to the Taliban...The Taliban has grown strong because of fear and later ignorance, education can help that.

  • Show me the hate I displayed, Lizz.  To not agree with the choices the Muslims make is not hate. To support and celebrate the murders of innocents IS hate. To pretend it's not a hateful religion/way of life to those who aren't Muslim is to be a part of that hate. I never defined it as a US/Muslim issue, I'm just more familiar with the attacks on US targets.  Until the majority of Muslims stand up and say these kooks are not part of their religion then they are part of the problem.

Look at it this way- if 6 guys walk in the room and one of them shoots a seventh that was already there minding their own business, then the 5 non-shooters say it was a good shot, aren't they supporting it?

  • You, sir, are one of the most heavy-handed thought control types on this board, despite your thin, cracking veneer of freedom loving. The one thing I admire about you, Martin, is you don't hide your hatred of the US.  You are so self focused you can't see how oppressive your ideas are.  I'd love to see you function in a Muslim state.  I"m guessing you won't be able keep yourself above the fray as much as you attempt to now.

  • I hadn't had a good dose of intellectual superiority thrown at me in a while.  Felt good :).  I might just go publish Mohammed's head exploding somewhere.
